Too Ambitious to Be Happy?

5 tips from a woman who decided to stop running in the dark.

It’s late January 2026, and if I’m reading the room correctly, we’re all basically nursing a collective existential crisis, aren’t we?

At the start of this year, I made the firm decision to limit my presence on and consumption of social media. Yet, I still fall into the trap. And every time it happens, one question haunts me: in this era of digital omnipresence, where our lives as women are measured by the yardstick of recognition and "having it all," toward what precipice is this mad dash leading us?

For a long time, I was a child of North American psychology. I grew up cradled by the "Girlboss" dogma and the "driven and ambitious" mantra—the idea that everything is extraordinary and, above all, everything is possible. It’s an intoxicating heritage, a remnant of family entrepreneurship that instilled in me this certainty: nothing can stop me.

Yet, while the field of possibilities has never seemed so vast—at least on our screens—a dissonance persists: if we truly are the generation where "everything is possible," why have burnout and that nagging feeling of "not being enough" become our only common horizons?

For years, I followed the teachings of Tony Robbins. He hammers home the importance of "pattern recognition": identifying repeating cycles to regain control. But today, the machine is seizing up. The identity crisis we are traversing as women is so deep that the pattern itself eludes us. We are juggling careers, mental loads, and social expectations, yet we’ve never looked so broken. We doubt our own value even as AI begins to do our jobs.

Will someone finally flick the switch, or are we condemned to keep running in the dark?

After 6 years of coaching and mentoring, I feel compelled to share what life has taught me. Light doesn't come from an external switch; it comes from a change in frequency. The solution doesn't lie in yet another conquest strategy (the soul-crushing hustle culture), but in a strategy of discernment.

If you too are searching for the switch in the dark, here are my 5 paths from one woman to another—I'm still fumbling, but I’m moving forward:

1. Spring Cleaning (in January or February)

We are the average of the discourse we consume. If your feed is saturated with the idea that "not breaking records is a failure," you are living with permanent emotional debt.

  • The Concrete Step: Do a radical "unfollow." Delete every account that triggers a sense of inadequacy rather than true inspiration. This is the first step to finding your own voice: who are you listening to when you aren't listening to yourself?

2. The "Possible"... But Not All at Once

The "Girlboss" era made us believe we have to be everything to everyone, all at once. It’s a lie. Real power returns when you choose a single battle. It’s less "perfect" than running everywhere, but that’s where true mastery lives.

  • The Concrete Step: Integrate the 1% principle: aim for tiny, constant progression rather than an immediate explosion. Ask yourself: what is the one thing that, once accomplished, would make everything else easier or unnecessary? Move from surface-level ambition to deep mastery.

3. Create "Deconnection Sanctuaries"

Ambition is an engine, but if you never cut the ignition, the engine explodes. For us, boredom isn't a failure of productivity; it’s the soil for our next great idea and our mental health.

  • The Concrete Step: Identify your "tipping point" (the moment your drive becomes toxic) and enforce moments where performance is forbidden. Learn to do nothing. It’s often when we stop searching that we finally find the light switch.

4. Shift from Validation to Embodiment

Social media forces us to "appear" before we "are." If your latest project brings you no joy without the gaze of others, it’s not an ambition—it’s a cage.

  • The Challenge: This week, do something brilliant and don’t post it. Rediscover the pleasure of being good for yourself, not for the likes. Act as if no one is watching: that’s where your truth moves back in.

5. From Audience to Real Community : the FoundHers is here for you!

AI can simulate everything—knowledge, voice, advice—except the warmth of a coffee with a friend who truly understands your struggle. The light is often switched on in the eyes of another woman, not in the backlight of a screen.

  • The Concrete Step: Replace one hour of scrolling with a real conversation. Stop "networking" and start connecting. Remember that in this race, you aren't alone.

We might all be a little lost in the dark, but at least we’re together. What if we started by stopping the run to take the time to look for the switch?
