From confetti cannons to ball pits: Jasmine Griffiths shares how creativity builds the connections that build your brand.
Your business needs cowgirl boots
*This intro must be read in the best southern accent you can muster
Well, howdy doody y'all, it’s a blooming good day to have a yarn about business. We’re all very fancy, pancy business girlies here, so grab a bevy and let’s crack into it!
You may continue reading in a normal tone - but the accent is still encouraged :P
Hey there, I’m Jasmine Griffiths. I’m a freelance artist and illustrator from Australia who has found her way over to the cozy, cold winter wonderland better known as Sweden.
Before you ask. Yes, I’m loving the winter here. No, I don’t surf (sadly), and yes, there are plenty of scary spiders in Australia, and you are completely justified to be terrified of them (I am!)
My background is in traditional painting, graphic design, brand management, live illustrations and marketing and communications. Phew, that’s an absolute mouthful! In short, I am very creative and I have a lot of experience working with clients to help them communicate their ideas in a visual way.
Today, I want to address two very important points for female business owners
Why your business needs sparkling cowgirl boots
How to bring creativity into your business (even if you aren’t a creative person!)

WHY YOU NEED SPARKLING COWGIRL BOOTS?
In a sea of serious businesses, you need to sparkle. You might have the best product or be a thought leader in your field, but if you blend in, you won’t stand out against your competitors.
Let’s put it in some visuals. Which stands out?

-Sad boring speaker vs fun speaker-

-Normal yoga vs goat yoga-

-Boring suit crowd vs bright fashion girly-
It’s easy to see that the fun version will always stand out in a crowd.
You might be thinking, ‘that’s all well and good, but HOW do I practically make this happen?’.
The answer is simple.
Creativity.
Creativity is the easiest way to make sure you and your business are memorable because creativity builds connection, and connection builds your business.

HOW TO BRING CREATIVITY INTO YOUR BUSINESS
If you’re worried that you can’t bring creativity because you can’t draw a stick figure, then this part is for you!
Everyone, and I mean everyone, can be creative.
If you want to unlock your creativity, ask yourself this simple question.
‘How can I make this more fun?
Let’s say you’re a female entrepreneur starting a business in AI data management. You want to reach more people and tell them about what you do and the service you provide. Now you could do the classic PowerPoint pitch, or you could make it just a bit more creative and fun. Hire a ball pit filled with colourful balls, jump into them and then do a little piece to camera explaining what AI data management is and use sorting the colourful balls as a visual.
Not only does this make your service more memorable, you’re able to show your personality and have fun with it!
Don’t have the budget for a colorful ball pit? No problem ⬇️
Here are 9 Jasmine-generated ideas (no AI needed) to help you bring creativity into your business:
Turn your tasks into games:
Alphabet game
You need to reach out to new people in your industry on LinkedIn, but try to find people whose last names start with a different letter in the alphabet. Once you’ve crossed off all 26, give yourself a prize.
Tic-Tac-Toe
Do you have a cofounder or coworker? Challenge them to a task tic-tac-toe. Each person gets to make their move once they finish a task on their list.
BUY THE CONFETTI CANNON. I don’t care what business you run. There is always a moment to use confetti cannons.
Make a mini mascot and hide it in your working space, PowerPoint slides, website or even socials. It’s an easy way to have a moment of fun in discovery when people spot it.
Customise the ‘mouse’ feature on your website so it’s something more fun. Even a little flower is an easy way to add whimsy to your site.
Include a blooper reel or pictures at the end of your presentation. It may feel silly and awkward, but I PROMISE it will create an opportunity for connection.
Initiate themed days and invite your clients / team to join in. I.e ‘on Wednesdays we wear pink’
Everything is more fun with a signature mug. Get yourself an amazing mug that you bring to Zoom meetings. Ideally, you want something that’s a bit out there that might help spark a genuine human conversation.
Piñatas are in. Get one that’s in your brand colours and get whacking. Maybe it’s to celebrate a small milestone, or maybe you film it and turn it into a piece of content about how your business is full of gold (insert gold chocolate coins)
Celebrate your rejections or failures with a jelly bean jar. Every time you get a rejection, you get to enjoy a tasty treat.
If you want your business to be memorable and stand out in a crowd, it’s time to put your sparkling cowgirl boots on and bring more creativity into your business.
If you take nothing but this, please remember:
Creativity builds connection, and connection builds your business.
The easiest way to be creative is to ask yourself, ‘How can I make this more fun?’
